The star of Bethlehem, which guided the Magi to the manger, symbolises the light of Christ that enlightens our lives. This Christmas season, we are called to become light-bearers in the world ourselves, carrying the love, peace and truth that Jesus has offered us. Here is a prayer to ask to become faithful witnesses to this divine light.
Prayer to become bearers of light, like the star of Bethlehem
Lord Jesus,
You, the Light of the world,
On this Christmas night, we come before you in humility.
You were born in the darkness of a manger,
But your light has burst upon the whole world.
Today we pray to you to become bearers of that divine light,
To spread your love where darkness reigns.
As the star of Bethlehem guided the wise men to your manger,
Make us faithful witnesses to your truth.
Help us to shine in our daily lives,
By being instruments of your peace, kindness and love.
Lord, on this holy night,
We ask you to transform our hearts,
So that they reflect the light of your presence.
Make the light of faith shine in us,
And help us to share it with those around us.
Mary, Mother of God,
You who bore this light in your womb,
Help us to welcome Jesus into our lives with faith and humility.
Guide our steps so that we may, like you,
Live in the light of God,
And transmit this light around us.
Saint Joseph,
Faithful and protective guardian,
Show us how to carry the light in simplicity and silence.
Help us to be discreet but powerful witnesses,
Raying God's love in our daily actions.
O Lord,
May your star continue to shine in our lives,
So that at every moment we are guided by your light.
Give us the strength to be bearers of light,
Not just this Christmas,
But throughout our lives.
We thank you, Lord Jesus,
For offering us your light,
And calling us to share it with the world.
May your love enlighten our lives and the lives of all those we meet.
Amen.
This prayer to become light-bearers, like the star of Bethlehem, invites us to welcome Christ as our light and to spread it around us. By bearing his love and peace, we become living witnesses of divine light in the world.
