Saint Callixtus I, Pope and martyr,
faithful servant of Christ,
you who endured trials, humiliations and hardships
before dedicating your life to the service of God,
I come before you today to entrust my life and all the intentions I hold in my heart to you.
You who have known difficult paths,
teach me never to despair.
When trials pile up,
help me to keep the faith.
When I can no longer understand what is happening to me,
remind me that God is ever present,
even when I can no longer recognise His path.
When I fall,
help me to get back up.
When I make a mistake,
grant me the humility to acknowledge my errors.
When my past haunts me,
remind me that God’s mercy
is greater than all my faults.
Saint Callixtus, intercede for me
so that I may never lose hope.

Saint Callixtus,
you who defended the possibility of forgiveness
for those who sincerely return to God,
help me to believe deeply in His mercy.
Sometimes I look back on my faults
and think that I should have acted differently.
There are words I regret,
decisions I wish I’d made differently,
missed opportunities
and wounds that I may have caused myself.
Today I lay all this before the Lord.
May my past not become a prison.
May my regrets become an opportunity to grow.
May my acknowledged faults teach me humility.
And may God’s forgiveness give me the strength to start afresh.
Lord, forgive me, lift me up
and lead me along a new path.

I also entrust to you the wounds that others have left in my life.
Some words linger long in the memory.
Some injustices are hard to forget.
Some disappointments have deeply wounded my heart.
Some people cause us pain
even though we had placed our trust in them.
You know how difficult forgiveness can sometimes be.
Yet I do not want to let resentment,
anger or bitterness rule my life.
So, Saint Callixtus, intercede for me.
When I am not yet able to forgive,
ask the Lord to grant me at least
the desire to set out on this path.
Teach me to place in God’s hands
what I cannot mend myself.
Help me to understand that forgiving
does not mean denying the hurt,
but refusing to let that hurt
dictate my entire future.
Free my heart from the burden of resentment
and lead me gradually towards peace.

Saint Callixtus,
I entrust my family to you today.
I entrust to you my home,
my children,
my parents,
my loved ones
and all those who hold a special place in my heart.
Watch over those who are close to me
and those who live far away.
Protect them as they travel.
Be with them in their work.
Guide their decisions.
Support them in their difficulties.
And when they face a trial that I cannot resolve for them,
help me to entrust them with confidence to the Lord.
I entrust to you in particular
families experiencing tension.
Couples who can no longer understand one another.
Parents and children who have grown apart.
Siblings who no longer speak to one another.
Families wounded by words,
misunderstandings or painful events.
Saint Callixtus, intercede so that peace may return to our homes.
Where forgiveness must be sought,
grant the humility to take the first step.
Where a word must be spoken,
grant the right words.
Where one must know when to be silent,
grant the wisdom of silence.
And where reconciliation is possible,
open a path towards it.

Saint Callixtus,
you whose life reminds us that a life can have a new beginning,
I entrust to you all those who think it is too late.
Those who regret their past.
Those who have made mistakes.
Those who have lost confidence in themselves.
Those who feel rejected.
Those who think they no longer deserve God’s love.
Those who would like to change their lives
but do not know where to begin.
Grant them the grace to understand
that as long as a person turns sincerely to God,
a path remains open.
May no one believe themselves to be lost forever.
May no one think that their faults are greater
than the Lord’s mercy.
And grant us, too, the grace
never to trap others in their past.

When my path becomes difficult,
stay close to me through your intercession.
When I am weary,
grant me the strength to carry on.
When I am discouraged,
remind me of how far I have already come.
When I worry about the future,
help me to simply live in the present moment.
When I have to make an important decision,
ask the Lord to grant me discernment.
When I feel alone in the face of my difficulties,
remind me that God never abandons me.
And when my prayers seem to go unanswered,
teach me to keep praying with confidence.
I do not ask for a life without trials.
I ask for the strength not to lose faith in the midst of trials.

Saint Callixtus,
today I entrust to you all those who bear a cross.
The sick.
Those in hospital.
Those awaiting recovery.
Those caring for a sick loved one.
Those who are alone.
Those who have lost someone they loved.
Those facing financial hardship.
Those looking for work.
Those who fear the future.
Those going through a period of deep sadness.
Those who suffer in silence
without anyone around them realising it.
Intercede for each and every one of them.
May the Lord send them a presence,
a word,
a gesture,
some comfort
or simply the strength they need to carry on.
? Teach me to look upon others with mercy
Saint Callixtus,
help me not to be too quick to judge.
I do not always know the struggles others face.
I do not know their wounds.
I do not know their whole story.
So teach me to look upon my neighbour
with greater patience and compassion.
Give me a heart capable of listening.
Words that comfort rather than words that hurt.
Hands ready to help.
An eye that sees the person
before seeing their mistake.
And when I must speak the truth,
teach me to speak it with kindness.
? Grant me inner peace
Saint Callixtus,
I ask you today for a special grace:
peace of heart.
That peace which does not depend solely
on what is happening around me.
That peace which remains even when all the answers have not yet come.
That peace which arises when we place our lives in God’s hands.
Calm my thoughts when worry takes up too much space.
Help me not to constantly imagine the worst.
Teach me to live today
without already carrying all the worries of tomorrow.
May the peace of Christ dwell in my heart,
my home
and my relationships.
