O Saint Rita,
blessed flower of Christ, faithful wife, courageous mother,
soul offered in suffering and prayer,
I come to you with confidence, you who are invoked in lost causes,
in the most painful situations,
and in distresses that human beings alone cannot resolve.
You who have known the wounds of the heart and the crosses of life,
you who have wept, prayed, supplicated and hoped in spite of trial,
come to my aid today.
Play on me your gaze of tenderness,
and cover me with your mantle of intercession.
Protect me, Saint Rita,
from visible and invisible dangers,
from evil intentions, jealousy, lies,
accidents, illnesses, injustices and temptations.
Intercede for me with the Lord,
so that his peace may reign in my heart and in my home.
May no anguish trouble my faith,
may no evil befall those I love,
and may each day be enlightened by God's presence.
Holy Rita, refuge in distress,
hear my prayers when doubt gnaws at me,
support me when fatigue overwhelms me,
carry my intentions when my words grow feeble,
and obtain for me the strength to go forward,
even when the path seems closed.
You who have received the thorn of Christ in your flesh,
make me turn my wounds into offerings,
my tears into hope, my silences into prayers.
Keep my thoughts pure,
my words just,
my loving gestures.
Remove from me toxic people, unnecessary conflicts,
hasty decisions and paralysing fears.
Saint Rita,
watch over my work, my projects, my family, my children,
my relationships, my finances and my health.
Put around me the angels of light,
to guide me in peace and defend me in adversity.
When I falter, support me.
When I fall, lift me up.
When I am lost, enlighten me.
And when the hour of final trial comes,
hold my hand so that I do not doubt the eternal promise.
I offer you my life, Saint Rita,
and I choose to follow Christ as you did,
in love, forgiveness, patience and faith.
Learn me to place myself in God's hands,
every day, every moment, with trust and abandon.
Through your powerful intercession,
obtain for me the peace, protection, and blessing of Heaven.
And may my heart, however wounded, become a place of hope.
Amen.
