Saint Cecilia, pure and courageous virgin,
you whose heart vibrated to the rhythm of praise,
draw near to us on this day and hear our prayer.
You who, from childhood, consecrated your life to Christ,
you who transformed every breath into song,
every gesture into an offering,
every trial into a heavenly melody,
teach us to live, too,
in the harmony of faith and in the light of God.
Saint Cecilia, pearl of purity,
you kept your soul spotless in the midst of a violent world.
You chose fidelity to God rather than honours,
you chose chastity rather than human glory,
and you illuminated your age with the silent strength
of your truth and love.
Inspire us with the strength to remain faithful
to our baptismal promises,
to love the truth,
to detach ourselves from everything that weighs down our hearts,
so that our lives may become a pure song
that ascends to the throne of the Most High.
Saint Cecilia, patron saint of musicians,
you who mixed your prayer with the song of your soul,
you whose inner music warmed hearts
and drew spirits to Christ,
come and bless all those who sing, play, create, compose,
and make music a path to divine beauty.
May music lead us to God,
may it soothe wounded souls,
may it console those who suffer,
may it lift the spirits of the discouraged,
may it open hearts to hope.
Saint Cecilia, model of courage,
you who did not fear the executioners,
you who remained faithful to the end,
you who continued to sing even in the heart of torment,
give us the strength to persevere in trial.
May your intercession obtain for us
peace in the struggle,
light in the night,
consolation in tears.
Saint Cecilia, gentle and powerful protector,
look upon those who this day lay before you
their intentions, their sorrows, their secret desires.
Offer them to Christ, your Spouse and your King,
that He may transform them according to His holy will.
Teach us to forgive as you have forgiven,
to love even when it costs,
to pray even when our voices tremble,
to stand firm in faith
when trials seem to knock us down.
And you who, for three days,
witnessed to Christ despite your wounds,
give us the grace to witness
to his love to the end.
O Saint Cecilia,
flower of courage,
melody of holiness,
heavenly harmony,
make our lives more beautiful,
more just, more faithful,
and may we too, through your intercession,
become docile instruments in God's hands.
May our days be a hymn,
may our actions be praise,
may our words be a hymn,
and may our whole existence become
a symphony of love offered to the Lord.
St. Cecilia, pray for us.
Amen.
