Saint Charbel, an intercessor for the sick
Since his death in 1898, Saint Charbel has become a figure of healing throughout the world. A Maronite monk and silent hermit, he never sought to perform miracles. And yet, thousands of testimonies report physical, spiritual and psychological cures attributed to his intercession.
Many people claim to have been freed from incurable diseases, chronic pain and deep distress after praying to Saint Charbel with faith. These graces are not mere anecdotes: they are documented, verified, and sometimes even officially recognised by the Church.
Saint Charbel does not heal by himself. He is a channel, a relay. He simply stands between God and the sufferer. He prays for us, and in the silence of his heart united to Christ, he presents our tears and our pain to the One who can do everything.
The simple faith of a sincere prayer
The power of prayer to Saint Charbel does not come from the beauty of the words, or the length of the text. It comes from faith. When someone is suffering, they often have little strength to pray. Saint Charbel understands this. He welcomes the sighs, the silences, the inner cries.
To pray to Saint Charbel for healing is to recognise our weakness and believe that God is still working today. It is not magic, nor is it a guaranteed recipe. It's an act of hope. It's saying, "Lord, I don't understand everything, but I trust you."
You can pray alone, with your family, in a church, or even on a hospital bed. It doesn't matter where. What counts is surrender.
Prayer to Saint Charbel for healing
Saint Charbel,
you who lived in silence, prayer and fasting,
you who were a living witness to the love of Christ,
I come to you today to entrust my pain.
You know the weakened bodies, the broken hearts,
the sleepless nights and the strengthless days.
Put your hand on my wound, and present it to God.
Intercede for me,
ask the Lord to visit me in my sickness.
If it is his will, may he restore me to bodily health.
But above all, obtain for me inner peace,
confidence in trial,
and union with the Heart of Christ who bore all.
Saint Charbel, brother in trial,
do not abandon me in my suffering.
Be close to me,
and keep me in hope.
Amen.
