A saint of silence, who became a living sign of God's power

Saint Charbel Makhlouf, a Lebanese Maronite monk, spent his life in the shadows, far from the spotlight. He did not preach, write or found visible works. He prayed. He was silent. He abandoned himself to God. And yet, since his death in 1898, thousands of miracles have been attributed to him. Unexplained cures, profound conversions, interventions in hopeless human situations.

Since his death, Saint Charbel has become an extraordinary intercessor. The faithful who invoke him often do so with great faith. They place in his hands very concrete human situations: serious illnesses, family wounds, addictions, professional or spiritual blockages.

And Charbel presents these prayers to God. He doesn't heal on his own. But he begs. And God, in his goodness, often answers these trusting prayers through this discreet monk.

The miracles attributed to Saint Charbel remind us that God likes to act in humility. It is not through great demonstrations that God touches hearts, but through the poorest, simplest, most abandoned instruments.

Charbel, in his silence, becomes a mirror of divine tenderness. He does not speak, but he is there. He promises nothing, but listens. And this is enough for miracles to flourish around him.

What is striking about devotion to Saint Charbel is its universal dimension. He is prayed to in all languages, by people from all walks of life. His image - that of a monk with a peaceful, bearded face - seems to cross cultures and touch everyone deeply.

This worldwide influence, without strategy or discourse, is in itself a sign. God continues to act today, through those who give themselves to Him entirely.

you who have lived in self-forgetfulness,
