St John the Baptist, prophet of the Most High and forerunner of Christ, prepared the way for the Lord in the desert. With his ardent voice and pure heart, he announced the coming of the Saviour and called people to conversion. To pray to him is to ask for the strength of truth, the courage of faith and the grace of a heart turned towards God.

O Saint John the Baptist, you whom God chose even before you were born to prepare for the coming of the Messiah, I come to you with faith and humility. You who lived in silence, prayer and truth, teach me to listen to God's voice in my heart and to obey Him with trust.

Saint John the Baptist, you who preached conversion and baptized the crowds in the Jordan, cleanse my soul and wash my heart of everything that leads me away from God. Obtain for me the grace of sincere repentance, true love and living faith. May my words and deeds bear witness to the light of Christ in this world that so desperately needs it.

O prophet of truth, you who were not afraid to proclaim justice even at the risk of your life, give me the courage to defend the good and remain faithful to the Gospel. May your example inspire me to live with uprightness, humility and charity, without ever fearing the judgement of men.

St John the Baptist, you who recognised in Jesus "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world", foster in me the desire to follow Him and love Him with all my heart. May I be, in your image, a witness of light, an instrument of peace and a messenger of hope.

O Saint John, protector of those who seek the truth, pray for me and for all those who doubt or feel lost. Help us to find God's way and to walk in the joy of His love.

O Saint John the Baptist, friend of God and model of believers, watch over me. Obtain for me the grace I entrust to you today (formulate your intention here). And when the hour of judgment comes, intercede so that I may be found worthy to contemplate the face of Christ in eternal glory.
