Saint Philip was one of the first disciples called by Jesus, a native of Bethsaida like Peter and Andrew. It was he who, moved by the encounter with Christ, announced to Nathanael, "We have found him of whom the Law and the Prophets speak." We find him in the Gospel questioning Jesus with simplicity and a thirst for understanding, making him a model of faith in search. According to tradition, he took the Gospel as far as Asia Minor and died a martyr. We invoke Saint Philip to grow in trust, receive light in our doubts and become joyful witnesses to the Good News.

Powerful prayer to Saint Philip

O Saint Philip, apostle of the Lord, you who heard Christ's call and followed him without hesitation, we turn to you with confidence. Help us to recognise Jesus' voice at the heart of our lives and to respond generously, even when we do not fully understand his plan.

O St Philip, you who had the joy of leading Nathanael to the Lord, make us alert to opportunities to proclaim Jesus around us. Inspire our words with simplicity and our actions with kindness, so that others may discover through us the light of the Gospel.

Disciple eager to understand, you who asked Jesus, "Lord, show us the Father, and that is enough for us," intercede for us in our searching and our doubts. Obtain for us the grace to always seek the truth with humility, and to recognise that to see Christ is to see the Father.

Intiring missionary, you who carried the Gospel to distant lands and suffered martyrdom for your Master, inflame our hearts with apostolic zeal. Give us the strength to remain faithful in times of trial, to bear witness to our faith without fear and to always keep the joy of belonging to Christ.

Saint Philip, protector of seekers of meaning and evangelisers, accompany our families, our young people and our communities. Guide those who doubt, support those who hesitate and console those who feel distant from God. Make us instruments of peace and light in the world.

O glorious apostle, you who knew the joy of being close to Jesus and the glory of giving your life for Him, present our prayers to the Father in heaven. Obtain for us the grace to walk faithfully, to love fervently and to hope with perseverance. May our lives always proclaim, "We have found the Messiah!"

Saint Philip, pray for us and guard our steps on the way of Christ.
