Prayer for the Octave of Easter:
Risen Lord Jesus,
Light born of the tomb,
Sweet and resplendent victory over night and death,
I come to You in these blessed days
When Easter joy ceaselessly springs forth like a living spring.
You are alive, O Christ,
And your breath still fills our silences,
Your glorious wounds become gates of mercy,
And your gaze lifts up those who fall.
In this holy Octave,
Teach me to dwell in wonder,
Not to close my heart too quickly
After the splendour of the Resurrection.
Make these days one and the same morning,
Where your Love renews all things.
Like Mary Magdalene in the garden,
Grant that I may recognise You when You call me by name.
Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus,
Make my heart burn as I listen to Your Word.
Like Thomas,
Teach me to believe even in my doubts,
And to proclaim with confidence:
My Lord and my God.
Lord,
May Your Resurrection transform my wounds,
May it illuminate my hidden fears,
May it transfigure my nights into the promise of dawn.
May nothing within me resist your Life.
Make me a witness to your joy,
Even in simple things,
Even in the midst of trials.
Teach me to bring peace
Where anxiety and doubt reign.
In this week of light,
Engrave within me the certainty that You are always present,
That You walk with me,
And that death will never have the last word.
Risen Lord,
Stay with me,
Dwell in my thoughts, enlighten my choices,
And make my whole life
A song of praise to Your Glory.
Amen.
