The heart of the Christian faith
Easter is the most important Christian holiday. It celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus, three days after his crucifixion.
Without Easter, there would be no Christianity. The Resurrection is the foundation of faith. It proclaims that death does not have the last word. After the Passion and the silence of the tomb, light bursts forth.
The empty tomb
On Easter morning, the women go to the tomb. They find the stone rolled away and the tomb empty.
The angel announces to them: "He is not here, he has risen."
This message changes history. Fear gives way to joy. Despair becomes hope. The Resurrection does not remove the cross, it transforms it. An invisible but real victory The Resurrection is not simply a return to life. It opens up a new reality. Jesus does not return as before, he enters into a glorified life. Easter proclaims that love is stronger than hatred, that light is stronger than darkness. It is a discreet but definitive victory.
A celebration of joy
On Easter night, during the Easter Vigil, the Church is illuminated. The new fire is lit, the bells ring out again, and the Alleluia resounds.
Easter joy is not superficial. It is born after trial. It has passed through suffering. It is a deep joy, rooted in hope. Easter today Easter is not just an event of the past. It concerns us today.
Every time we overcome a trial, every time we choose love over resentment, every time we hold on to hope despite the darkness, the Resurrection takes shape in our lives.
Easter reminds us that nothing is ever lost forever.
Life triumphs.
Prayer for Easter
Risen Lord,
let the joy of Easter grow within me.
Revive my hope
and renew my faith.
May your light illuminate my darkness
and make me a witness to life.
Amen.
