The meaning of the name Jesus in the Bible

In the Bible, names are never insignificant. They reveal the true identity and mission of the person. The name Jesus comes from the Hebrew Yeshua, which means 'God saves'. When the angel announces the birth of her son to Mary, he clearly explains the meaning of this name: "You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
