St Bernard of Clairvaux, Doctor of the Church and lover of the Virgin Mary, was a man of ardent faith and inspired words. Through his life of prayer, wisdom and humility, he brought many souls back to God and spread the light of divine love throughout the world. To pray to him is to ask for fervour of heart, inner peace and fidelity to God's will.
Ô Saint Bernard, you who made your life a total offering to the Lord, I come to you with trust and gratitude. In the solitude of your abbey, you sought the face of God and found in prayer the source of all light. Help me, like you, to put God at the centre of my life and to do everything out of love for Him.
Saint Bernard, spiritual master and guide of souls, teach me to listen to the voice of silence, to contemplate the beauty of the Creator in everything and to find peace in daily fidelity. Give me the strength to persevere in faith, even when God hides, and the gentleness to dwell in His presence with patience.
O holy monk, friend of Mary, you who so honoured her with your words and your heart, obtain for me a tender and faithful love for the Mother of God. May I know how to entrust myself to her in my trials, as a child to its mother, and walk with her towards Christ, the light of my soul.
Saint Bernard, apostle of charity, you who united contemplation and action, make me attentive to those around me. Help me to love without counting the cost, to serve without pride and to give without expecting anything in return. Grant that my faith may always be translated into gestures of peace, humility and compassion.
O Saint Bernard, you who knew how to guide men to the truth with wisdom and gentleness, intercede for me with the Lord. Obtain for me the grace I entrust to you today (formulate your intention here). Through your intercession, may I find light in my doubts, courage in my struggles and peace in my heart.
Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, flame of faith and doctor of divine love, watch over me and those I love. Help us to remain faithful to God's word and to taste the joy of His presence here below.
