Our Lady of Sorrows is the one who, at the foot of the Cross, shared intimately in the suffering of her Son for the salvation of the world. She knew tears, loss, loneliness and pain, but her heart remained united to God in total trust. To pray to her is to place our sorrows, wounds and trials in her maternal hands, so that she may transform them into hope and peace.
O most holy Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, you whose heart was pierced by the sword of suffering, I come today to take refuge under your mantle. You have known the pain of a mother seeing her Son rejected, betrayed, scourged and crucified, and yet your love has never wavered. Receive my tears, my worries and my burdens, and make them an offering of love united to the Passion of Christ.
O Mother of Sorrows, you who bore the sufferings of Jesus in your heart, teach me to accept my crosses with patience and faith. When life seems heavy, when despair threatens, remind me that you are there, present, silent but powerful. Give me the strength to follow your Son on the road to Calvary, in confidence and inner peace.
Remember, O Mary, all the pains you have endured: Simeon's prophecy, the flight into Egypt, the loss of Jesus in the Temple, the encounter on the road to Calvary, your presence at the foot of the Cross, the descent of your Son into your arms and his burial. May each of these sorrows become for me a source of consolation and grace.
O most compassionate Mother, console those who weep, heal wounded hearts, support tried families and strengthen downcast souls. Teach us to believe, even when all seems lost, to hope when the night is long, and to love in spite of suffering.
Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, refuge of faithful souls, receive my prayer and intercede for me with your Son Jesus. Obtain for me the grace I ask of you today (formulate your intention here) if this is the Lord's will. And above all, obtain for me peace of heart and the light of Heaven.
O Virgin Mary, you who remained standing at the foot of the Cross, make me grow in faith and love. Through your intercession, may my sorrows become fruitful and may my soul, purified by trial, be united to your Immaculate Heart for ever.
