Saint Ignatius of Loyola, wounded knight turned soldier of Christ, you knew how to transform your pain into light and your human will into an instrument of divine grace. Founder of the Society of Jesus, you learned to seek and find God in everything.
Your Spiritual Exercises helped countless souls to discern the voice of the Lord and to follow Him generously. Your ardent heart burned with the desire to love God more and to serve Him in every action.
O St Ignatius of Loyola, you who left everything to follow Christ, teach me to detach myself from that which distances me from Him. Obtain for me the grace to purify my intentions, to love without calculation, and to always choose what leads to the glory of God.
You who saw the Lord's hand even in the wound that changed your life, help me to welcome my trials as paths of growth. Grant that I may not run away from suffering, but transform it into an offering of love. May my heart remain free, available and joyful, even in sacrifice.
St Ignatius, master of discernment, enlighten my choices when confusion overwhelms me. Help me to recognise the voice of the Holy Spirit in the midst of the tumult of the world. Give me the wisdom to listen to God in silence and the strength to act according to His will, without fear and without return.
Teach me to pray like you: to contemplate, to listen, to love. May I discover God's presence in everything, in joy as in sorrow, in success as in failure. May my life become a daily offering, humble and faithful, a silent but total "yes" to His will.
O St Ignatius, teach me to serve with zeal, love with depth and forgive with heart. Let your prayer become mine: 'Lord, take and receive all my freedom, my memory, my intelligence and all my will... all that I have and possess. Give me only your love and your grace: that is enough for me."
Amen.
