O glorious Saint Benedict,

father of monks, master of wisdom and spiritual combat,

you whom God chose to make his light shine in the heart of darkness,

here I am at your feet, humble and trusting,

begging you to extend your holy protection over me.

You who lived in silence, prayer, work and charity,

who faced the wiles of the infernal enemy with courage and faith,

come to my aid today.

Be my shield against the forces of evil,

my refuge in trial, my guide in dark paths.

By the power of the holy Cross you so cherished,

by the blessed words inscribed on your medal,

drive away from me temptations of the spirit, evil thoughts,

evil influences, malicious persons

and anything that might harm my soul or body.

Protect my home from all intrusion of the evil one,

keep my family united in peace and love,

watch over my relatives, my friends, and all those who entrust themselves to my prayer.

Cover us with your mantle of light,

and grant that no shadow may reach us without your holy intercession surrounding us.

Saint Benedict, you who overthrew the idols and closed the door to the devil,

teach me to renounce sin, to live in truth,

to seek God in all things, to prefer silence to agitation,

peace to vengeance, service to domination.

Teach me humility, inner strength, patience and hope.

I consecrate to you this day, this night, every beat of my heart.

Place around me an invisible wall against Satan's snares.

If he attacks me with fear, give me confidence.

If he strikes me with sickness, obtain healing or inner peace.

If he assails me with confusion, grant me clarity and wisdom.

I want to wear your medal with faith,

not as a talisman, but as a sign of my faithfulness to God,

as a call to your constant prayer for me,

as a proclamation that I choose Christ and refuse the darkness.

O Saint Benedict, pray for me this day and at the hour of my death.

Be my companion in the present life,

and when the hour of the great passage comes,

present my soul to the Lord with tenderness and vigour,

as you have led so many souls into eternal light.

to whom be all honour and glory,

for ever and ever.
